A day hike with the Waimea Tramping Club up the 4 wheel drive access road to the summit of Mt Murchison at 1469m and a side trip over to the south east to Spot Height 1440. From here we had a good view further SE to the snow capped Robert Ridge and Travers Range. We also had a glimpse of Lake Rotoroa and further south to Mt Misery and the Mole Tops. This was 15km return trip with 1400m of elevation gain with it taking us under 3 hours to reach the summit.
Note: permission needs to be obtained to access the Mt Murchison road as it crosses farmland.
