After moving down to Nelson just before Easter a perfect blue sky on Anzac Day provided the opportunity to explore one of the tops in the Richmond Range behind Nelson. My intention was to ride the Dunn mountain trail but Fringe Hill looked to provide much better views to orientate myself with my new home. I meet up with a young Czech called Martyn at the Maitai Campsite carpark and he was keen to do this and then continue on to complete Dunn Mountain. The climb up was a gut buster and my fitness level needs to improve dramatically before I could even contemplate riding all the way up.  However the views were spectacular and well worth the walk pushing the bike. After reaching the summit we had a fast, steep trip down the Cummins Spur to the Dunn Mountain Trail. Martyn immediately headed up the trail as he was running short on time. I rode up the trail for approx 4km before returning down the trail to the carpark. Dunn Mountain can wait for another day....
