Cycling and Mountain Biking in New Zealand is evolving into a very popular activity. With major success in the Olympics in both facets of the sport, new facilities are being developed to cater for the expanding user base.
The 2011, fifty million dollar investment in the NZ Cycle Trails produced some great rides and and ongoing investment in new trails provides opportunities to access over 2500km of  trails. Mountain bike club have recently become much more proactive forming partnerships with local councils to open up previously closed areas to their members and the public.
